Can I afford it?

Check a purchase before your next payday, after unpaid bills and a cushion you choose. This uses your entries, not a live bank balance.

Also keep enough for groceries, gas and other spending you have not entered. Category limits are targets and are not deducted here.

Upcoming bills

Unpaid bills through the end of this pay period, including overdue bills. Mark paid only when paid; this records an expense. If you already logged it, link that expense using its Edit button.

Add spending

Receipt scanning needs an internet connection the first time. Always verify the total before saving.

Add money for extra deposits, gifts or refunds. Your regular paycheck is already included in Budget settings; do not enter it twice. This records money only and does not transfer funds.

Credit card debt

Balances carry forward until paid off. Log each paycheck’s payment below, or link an existing expense in Activity → Edit. Payments count once in your budget. Interest and new charges are not added automatically; use Update balance to match your statement. Do not also set up the same payment as a recurring bill.

Your planned payment is reserved in Can I afford it? until you log it. This does not make a bank payment.

Recurring bills

Bills appear automatically on their scheduled dates. They reserve money in “Can I afford it?” until you mark or link them as paid. No bank payment is made. Add only bills paid from the paycheck amount above.

Editing a schedule applies from the first unpaid due date you enter. Recorded payments stay in Activity. Removing a bill stops future reminders and reserves, and keeps paid expenses.

Paycheck setup

Your pay periods are calculated from the payday date. Starting a new period never deletes old spending. Optional rollover uses prior period balances, including overspending.

Category budgets (per paycheck)

These are spending targets, not extra charges. Their total can be different from your paycheck amount.

Restoring replaces the current data after confirmation.

About

Free personal budgeting app. No account, subscriptions, or bank connections. Receipt scanning uses a third-party JavaScript OCR library downloaded when needed; image recognition happens in your browser. This app does not upload your transactions to a budgeting server.
